Kallang Basin Swimming Complex
Kallang Basin Swimming Complex was one of Singapore’s earliest public swimming complexes and played an important role in the development of community swimming in the city area. Opened in the 1970s, it served residents from Kallang, Lavender, and the surrounding city fringe neighbourhoods at a time when public swimming facilities were far less common.
The complex was located along the Kallang Basin waterfront, near the mouth of the Kallang River. Its position placed it close to several key landmarks, including the Kallang Basin Industrial Estate and later developments around Stadium Boulevard and the Singapore Sports Hub. For many years, it was a familiar facility for schools, community groups, and families living in nearby housing estates.
