The Singapore Swimming Proficiency Awards (SSPA) is launched to promote swimming proficiency and to allow progress for students taking lessons under Singapore Swimming Academy. All strokes are to be swum in compliance with FINA rules for competitive swimming.
Objective Of SSPA
- To Provide progression for swimming after SwimSafer Programme
- To raise the level of swimming proficiency of students and the general public
- To increase the level of technical expertise among our swimming coaches
- To provide a talent pool for the next generation of Singapore competitive swimmers
Requirements
The SSPA test is taken very seriously and the setting is exactly how it’s seen in interschool competition. This is a real eye opener for students who have never attended such events. This allows them to gather their first experience before taking part in future swimming competitions.
During the race, swimmers will only need to clock their speed for their event. In order for the student to achieve the award, they will need to swim faster than the stated timing.
For example, to pass 50m frontcrawl, student need to swim below 1min 5 sec to pass.
